PTARMIGAN STUDIO
Rossland, BC
Art Director, Illustrator, and Designer, 7 years

Design and production of a large variety of graphics packages including: identity programs, advertising programs, in-house and point of sale items, calendars, brochures, prints and books.
Due to the very general nature of our studio, I was required to develop skills in many areas including: paste-up and preparation of camera-ready mechanicals; understanding of registration, overlays and colour work; publishing terms and principles; marketing and distribution; and coordination with both clients and production people. As well, I learned to use the large variety of tools common in most art and graphic design studios before the advent of computers including: waxer; light table; drafting table and arms; drafting pens, pencils and templates; many letraset products; rubylith and other films; and vellum, flimsy, and other papers.

This was all a great background for my future in the computer graphics and publishing world.
