Articles about Web Design

Here we are posting a series of informative articles about websites - how to get one, what is involved, how much does it cost, what are the options, and more. As well, we'll share what we know about email, web browsers and the internet.

But what does it all cost?

Websites vary so much in scope and feature, it is difficult to give you a straight answer to this question. However here is a basic outline:

Design, consultation, layouts   $400

Template construction, implementation  $250

Content management, instruction $350

Hosting - one year $120

Domain Name - one year $20

Total: $1020.00

This would give you a website that has an unlimited number of pages, photo gallery, news section (blog), maybe some fading or flashing images, nice rollover menus, links to inner pages or outer pages and more standard website features. You will also have an administration area where you may, if you wish, go in and update your own content, upload images, documents, files, and link them from within your site, etc. The price also includes basic instruction on the administrative area of the site and a few months of trouble-shooting.

What this would not include is an online store, a community website with lots of different administration areas, major flash animation features, or exteme customization.

Most of the websites shown in our portfolio fall into this price range.
