Jude does Test of Metal @ 55 |

Well, I decided to once again enter the Test of Metal - maybe for the last time? The training was difficult, the road long. After two years away from mtb training and at 55 years old, I was worried I wouldn't be able to 'train up' to Test of Metal demands.
I completed the first half with little difficulty, coming into the 2.5 hour cutoff with 20 minutes to spare. Then I hit Bonk Hill -
Long story short, it took me 3 and a half hours to complete the 2nd half -
When I came across the finish line friends cheered, little Lou (2 years old) presented me with flowers, daughter Jama was there with hugs, friends Christine, Marie, and Cory were cheering and taking pictures. Wow. It was the most wonderful Test of Metal finish ever!
As icing on the cake, the only other female in my category as actually 60 years old this year so they bumped her into her own category. This was lucky for me as she passed me on Bonk Hill and finished 15 minutes faster - at 60 years old!
So I was able to bring home one of the Winners Jersey's I designed this year. And one of the calendars I designed this year.
The volunteers were, as usual, awesome - the entire race was well organized, well run, and the weather was fantastic. All racers received a ticket for a racer dinner - lasagna and salad, a really nice touch.
Many thanks to Christine for picking Jama up and including her in all the Test of Metal excitements.
