Song Title: I didn’t miss you

I didn’t miss you

I didn't miss you
until you walked up my stairs
smelling like another two weeks away.

I didn't say goodbye
until you took me in your arms
only then did I close the door

Damn you
I whisper to the green blades of spring.
Everything folds into our embrace.

Nothing bursts out when you let go,
it's all stitched inside by breath.

Were you gone? I mock
and check my phone.
two hundred and eleven unread messages

I didn't kiss you
like this when you left
taking your earnest plans and your working hands away.

We have our kinships with forever
yours a lifetime
mine the moment you return

there's no expectation
except the end of it,
some seven days away

I didn't miss you
until you walked up my stairs
smelling like another two weeks away.

I didn't say goodbye
until you took me in your arms
only then did I close the door.
